About
Founded in 1936, Aer Lingus is the national flag carrier airline of Ireland, and it operates from its base at Dublin Airport. The Irish carrier flies to over 100 destinations including Aberdeen, Agadir, Alicante, Athens, Baltimore, Belfast, Berlin, Birmingham, Chicago, Copenhagen, Cork, Derry, Dusseldorf, Faro, Edinburgh, Lyon, Madrid, Milan, Munich, New York, Stuttgart, Toronto and many more. The carrier serves over 12 million passengers per year.
In 2015, the International Airlines Group (IAG) bought the Aer Lingus shares from the Irish Government and Ryanair to complete the IAG's takeover. The airline was previously a member of the oneworld alliance, but it has no plans to re-enter the alliance despite the majority of IAG airlines being a member of oneworld. In 2021, the airline launched a sister company operating out of Manchester, England, called Aer Lingus UK.
The airline has also entered into codeshare agreements with Air Canada, British Airways, Etihad Airways, JetBlue Airways, KLM, and United Airlines.
